Sweden has entered into a contract with Saab to acquire an undisclosed quantity of the autonomous underwater vehicle (AUV) AUV62-MR for anti-mine operations. The AUV62-MR is intended to assist the navy in underwater reconnaissance by detecting potential threats. It is capable of mapping extensive seabed areas and producing high-resolution sonar images to identify and classify underwater mines and other objects that may pose security risks.
