BAE Systems has entered into a new agreement with the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration to provide additional BONUS precision-guided munitions for the Swedish Armed Forces, in a deal valued at close to $62 million (SEK 600 million).
This continued collaboration with BAE Systems Bofors reinforces Sweden’s investment in advanced, high-precision defense capabilities. The BONUS system extends the effectiveness of 155 mm artillery by delivering highly accurate strikes on enemy armored vehicles, including tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, and self-propelled artillery.
The BONUS munition is designed to “fire and forget,” releasing two smart, sensor-fuzed submunitions that can autonomously detect and neutralize targets within a coverage area of up to 32,000 square meters. Fired from a NATO L52 artillery system, BONUS offers a range of up to 35 kilometers and excels against moving threats, making it well-suited for integration with advanced systems like BAE Systems’ ARCHER.
BONUS, developed jointly by BAE Systems and Nexter Systems, has been successfully fielded by the armed forces of Sweden, Finland, France, Norway, and the United States, demonstrating its reliability and battlefield versatility.
