
Japan has received approval from the U.S. State Department for a potential $3.64 billion purchase of Advanced Medium-Range Air-to-Air Missiles (AMRAAMs). The proposed sale includes 1,200 AIM-120D-3 and AIM-120C-8 variants, as well as up to 20 AIM-120D-3 guidance units with precision positioning through either SAASM or M-Code, and an additional four AIM-120C-8 guidance units.
