Turkey has officially transferred a batch of T129 Atak combat helicopters and utility helicopters to Somalia as part of a growing defense collaboration.
The Somali Air Force received three T129 attack choppers, while the Somali Navy took delivery of two utility variants. The aircraft were flown in using six Turkish A400M transport planes and one Qatari C-17A.
This marks a critical step in Turkey’s 10-year military partnership with Somalia, which was signed earlier this year to help secure Somalia’s coastline and support efforts against Al-Shabaab insurgents.
