Turkey has signed an agreement to deliver 48 domestically built fighter aircraft to Indonesia, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan confirmed on Wednesday.
The $10 billion contract involves the long-term supply of Kaan fifth-generation fighter jets, to be produced by Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) and delivered over a 10-year period. The Kaan aircraft completed its maiden flight in February 2024, initially using F-16 engines, though Turkey aims to shift to local engine technology.
Turkey’s defense exports surged to $7.1 billion in 2024, up $1.6 billion from the previous year, with advanced systems like Bayraktar drones contributing significantly to revenue.
