Turkey has unveiled its third Reis-class submarine, the TCG Murat Reis (S-332), at the Gölcük Naval Shipyard in Kocaeli. This launch follows the commissioning of the first vessel in the series and ongoing trials for the second unit earlier in August 2024. The event marked a symbolic milestone, aligning with the 572nd anniversary of the Conquest of Istanbul and the 114th anniversary of the Turkish Air Force. The Reis-class submarines are based on Germany’s Type 214 diesel-electric design. Turkey plans to introduce one new submarine from the series each year through 2028.
