The Turkish Army has officially inducted its first domestically developed self-propelled howitzer, marking a major step toward artillery self-reliance and technological independence.

Designated the T-155 TTA, the system combines MKE’s 155mm Panter howitzer with a BMC 8×8 chassis, integrated through Aselsan’s advanced fire control system. Overall system integration was executed by the 2nd Main Maintenance Factory Directorate under the Turkish Ministry of National Defense.

The project originated from a 2020 contract issued by the General Directorate of Military Factories to the state-backed defense company ASFAT. The first firing test took place in December 2022.

Following a three-year qualification phase, the prototype successfully completed over 20,000 kilometers (12,427 miles) of mobility testing across multiple terrains and fired around 350 live rounds in varied operational scenarios before entering service.
