As part of its maritime modernization program, the Peruvian Navy has launched and named two Pativilca-class offshore patrol vessels—BAP Río Huarmey (PM 210) and BAP Río Nepeña (PM 211). These vessels are part of a planned fleet of 10, designed for missions such as coastal surveillance, anti-piracy operations, environmental response, and search and rescue. The design of the Pativilca-class is based on South Korea’s Tae Guk-class guard ship.
