The UK’s Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (Dstl) has introduced a high-tech underwater robot aimed at safeguarding essential subsea infrastructure.
This off-the-shelf remotely operated vehicle (ROV) is equipped to detect, disable, and extract threats affecting critical components like undersea cables and pipelines.
It can also clear old unexploded ordnance, protecting ships and divers involved in sabotage response missions.
Dstl has outfitted the system with new technologies to help it better identify threats and deliver explosive charges for controlled disposal.
