BAE Systems has been selected by the U.S. Army to create a prototype for the Multi-Domain Artillery Cannon (MDAC), a cutting-edge platform intended to launch hypersonic munitions. The contract, disclosed in late 2023, was awarded through a sole-source arrangement, bypassing open competition. The MDAC system will feature eight artillery cannons, four precision-guided radar units, and two integrated multi-domain command and control systems.
