L3Harris Technologies has completed the delivery of the first overhauled P-8A Poseidon maritime patrol aircraft to the U.S. Naval Air Systems Command (NAVAIR), marking a major milestone under a contract awarded by the Navy on September 30, 2024.
The modification work was carried out at L3Harris’s Waco, Texas facility, where depot-level maintenance, repair, and overhaul began earlier in 2024 and will continue through September 2029.
The agreement includes support for 139 P-8A aircraft and encompasses a broad range of maintenance services, including structural refurbishments, avionics enhancements, systems testing, and component upgrades.
This effort is part of the U.S. Navy’s broader strategy to maintain high operational readiness across its maritime patrol and reconnaissance fleet.
Beyond domestic support, L3Harris is also responsible for sustaining P-8A aircraft delivered under foreign military sales. Currently, seven aircraft are undergoing overhaul, with all slated for delivery within the year. Up to nine units are expected to be inducted in the first year of the contract.
