The Defense Logistics Agency (DLA) has awarded a massive $5-billion contract to six small businesses to help speed up the construction of Virginia-class submarines for the U.S. Navy. This initiative is part of efforts to strengthen maritime defense capabilities through streamlined procurement.
The agreement, named the Maritime Acquisition Advancement Contract, is structured as an indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (IDIQ) deal with the potential to grow to $10 billion over five years. Companies selected include ASRC Federal, Atlantic Diving Supply, Culmen International, Fairwinds Technologies, S&K Aerospace, and SupplyCore, all of which will provide essential equipment and services.
