BAE Systems and the U.S. Army Combat Capabilities Development Command Armaments Center (DEVCOM-AC) have entered a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement (CRADA) to advance the M109-52 Self-Propelled Howitzer prototype. This partnership focuses on further development to enhance long-range fires, upgrade technological capabilities, and improve the artillery systems currently used by Soldiers in active operations.
The M109-52 prototype delivers a cost-efficient, low-risk solution that accelerates the provision of core warfighting capabilities.
The CRADA leverages previous independent efforts and testing by both BAE Systems and DEVCOM-AC to create a streamlined development path for new artillery capabilities and lethality improvements for the M109A7 Paladin.
Continued work on the prototype will be performed at Picatinny Arsenal and within BAE Systems’ broad U.S. defense industrial base, including sites in Anniston, Alabama; Elgin, Oklahoma; Minneapolis, Minnesota; Sterling Heights, Michigan; and York, Pennsylvania.
