Saab and the French defence procurement agency, Direction générale de l’armement (DGA), have entered into a joint declaration of intent today regarding the sale of Saab’s GlobalEye Early Warning and Control (AEW&C) aircraft to France, including related ground equipment, training, and support.
This declaration, signed at the Paris Air Show, expresses DGA’s intention to purchase two GlobalEye aircraft, with an option to acquire two additional units.
The next step is a final notification process to complete the procurement, with the DGA expecting to finalize the contract within the coming months. No formal contract has been signed yet, and Saab has not received an official order for GlobalEye from France.
GlobalEye is a cutting-edge multi-domain AEW&C solution featuring a suite of active and passive sensors that enable long-range detection and identification of air, sea, and land targets. It delivers real-time situational awareness to air, land, and naval forces, facilitating early threat identification and response.
