California technology firms Picogrid and Deepnight have partnered to deploy AI-enhanced night-vision capabilities for sensors protecting military installations.

The collaboration will be evaluated in a $1.7-million demonstration funded by the US Department of Defense, aimed at proving how low-cost cameras can significantly improve nighttime security for critical sites.

Central to the effort is Deepnight’s AI-powered low-light imaging software, which pulls additional detail from dark or noisy video to generate clearer visuals in near-complete darkness, while increasing camera sensitivity by roughly ten times.
