India’s Axiscades Technologies has partnered with French defense company Cilas under a new memorandum of understanding to bring the Helma-P high-energy laser counter-drone system to India.
As part of the collaboration, the system will be integrated into Axiscades’ command-and-control framework and mounted on its mobile, vehicle-based counter-drone platforms.
Localization of sensors, command and control, and maintenance support will contribute to India’s defense self-reliance goals while meeting operational needs across the services.
Helma-P
The Helma-P system is capable of detecting, identifying, tracking, and neutralizing fast-moving targets with high precision in both open battlefield environments and dense urban settings.
It has already been deployed operationally — including during the Paris 2024 Olympics — proving its effectiveness in high-security scenarios.
The system provides an extended engagement range of up to 1.7 kilometers (0.62–4.34 miles) and can defeat threats through optical jamming or direct physical destruction.
Because it uses no ammunition, Helma-P eliminates per-shot firing costs and operates silently with minimal visual signature.
Beyond drones, the system can counter robots, radars, improvised explosive devices, rockets, artillery, and mortar threats.
