BAE Systems Hägglunds has partnered with Knightec Group Brazil to establish a military vehicle components production capability in Resende, Rio de Janeiro.

The collaboration will initially focus on a pilot project tied to the BvS10, with efforts centered on producing advanced gear housings to enhance vehicle efficiency and reduce production costs.

Globally, the BvS10 fleet is operated by several European countries, with over 1,200 vehicles already deployed and more than 650 additional units on order, including confirmed procurement by the United States.

The initiative will incorporate technology transfer to strengthen local capabilities, utilizing Knightec’s engineering expertise to reinforce BAE Systems’ supply chain and support scalable production. This localized approach is expected to improve manufacturing capacity and enable future upgrades to vehicle platforms.

According to BAE Systems, the partnership extends its established collaboration with Knightec—formed after its merger with Semcon—and marks an expansion into the South American market. It also builds on BAE’s long history in Brazil, where it has supported the armed forces with land, air, and naval systems, including armored vehicles, aircraft, and maritime platforms.
