Fincantieri and thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) have signed an industrial partnership to deliver submarine solutions to the Philippine Navy. Under the agreement, Fincantieri will offer its U212 Near Future Submarine — developed in collaboration with TKMS for the Italian Navy — as a candidate for Manila’s Horizon III modernization program. The platform is an advanced variant of the HDW U212A class, featuring low signatures and air-independent propulsion.
