A joint 15-million-euro ($17.5 million) agreement has been signed by Finland and Sweden with KNL of Finland to acquire Cognitive Networked High Frequency (CNHF) Manpack radios, with delivery expected before the year’s end.

The radios employ real-time spectrum sensing to scan over 4,000 channels and lock onto the optimal one in under a second. They operate autonomously, adjusting transmission settings for stable connectivity without manual intervention, and remain functional in GPS-denied scenarios through asynchronous links.

CNHF radios support encrypted voice, data, and multimedia communications across ranges from a few kilometers to several thousand. Their simple design requires just a single day of training and includes standard interfaces, allowing smooth integration with current tactical and command-and-control systems.
