Northrop Grumman and MBDA have formed a partnership to bolster Germany’s air and missile defense capabilities.
The initiative will integrate Northrop Grumman’s Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) with MBDA’s air-defense technologies, enabling more coordinated and effective operations.
Announced at the Berlin Security Conference, the agreement includes technology exchanges and joint demonstrations to merge the systems.
IBCS is a modular battle-management network that links sensors and weapons into a unified command architecture for synchronized engagements.
Core elements include the S-280 Shelter, a mobile unit that houses the Engagement Operations Center, and the Integrated Collaborative Environment, providing workspace and infrastructure for up to 24 operators.
The system also incorporates the Integrated Fire Control Network, which connects sensors and weapons through radio, fiber, or satellite links and supports a plug-and-fight interface for easy integration of new equipment.
This architecture moves high-quality targeting data across the network, enabling rapid, coordinated fire control.
