Indonesia and Singapore are strengthening bilateral defense ties with a focus on cybersecurity, as Jakarta looks to benefit from Singapore’s advanced cyber warfare expertise.
Indonesian officials noted that Singapore’s cyber command has evolved into a full-fledged military branch on par with its traditional armed forces — army, navy, and air force.
Brigadier General Frega Wenas Inkiriwang of Indonesia’s Defense Ministry highlighted that cybersecurity now plays a critical role in national defense, far beyond conventional cybercrime or fraud concerns.
Further collaboration will be explored through continued discussions involving both nations’ armed forces and specialized cyber defense units.
