The government of Kosovo has committed over €1 billion ($1.1 billion) to bolster the Kosovo Security Force (KSF), with a strong emphasis on creating locally built drones and enhancing national defense capacity, Kosovo Online reported.

As part of the plan, the Prime Minister revealed that Kosovo will begin producing homegrown military drones, restart operations at its ammunition factory, and set up a joint unit with Albania’s armed forces.

The investment is intended to strengthen ties with NATO allies, improve training and education, and upgrade the KSF’s equipment base.

Kosovo will also expand recruitment, specifically targeting the inclusion of 1,000 women in the armed forces. A national defense initiative will be introduced to provide training and weapons for volunteer reservists, ensuring they can be mobilized when required.
