Naval Group has broadened its collaboration with Dutch industry partners for the Royal Netherlands Navy’s future Orka-class submarines, signing new agreements with Nevesbu and Van Halteren Technologies during a defense and security event in Rotterdam.

The two firms join Team Orka, a growing consortium of Dutch suppliers working with Naval Group under the 2024 Replacement Netherlands Submarine Capability program, which will replace the aging Walrus-class submarines that have served since the 1990s.

The cooperation aligns with the Industrial Cooperation Agreement between Naval Group and Amsterdam’s economic affairs authority, supporting technology development, long-term sustainment independence, and maritime cooperation between the Netherlands and France.

Under the new contracts, Nevesbu will lead the design of several advanced onboard subsystems, continuing the company’s nine decades of contributions to national submarine engineering and focusing on areas including acoustic signature reduction and precision system integration.

Meanwhile, Van Halteren Technologies will deliver key equipment such as hydraulic power units, refrigeration systems, anchor winches, and capstans, engineered to meet strict standards for reliability, shock resistance, and compact performance.
