Northrop Grumman, in collaboration with Ramatek, Champion Auto, and Vivian & Vincent International Trading, will supply Taiwan with the AN/TPS-78 ADCAP radar system.

The radar employs the S-band to ensure resilience against interference, while its stacked beam design provides reliable detection of targets across a wide altitude range in any weather.

Its lightweight, compact build enables efficient transportation and deployment, with a team of four able to set up the system in less than half an hour. It can be moved by C-130 cargo plane, helicopters, trucks, or trains.

Currently in service with the U.S. Air Force and allied nations, the AN/TPS-78 delivers air surveillance out to 240 nautical miles (444 km/275 miles), with scan options of 5 or 10 seconds. These features support both fast-response intercept missions and tactical ballistic missile defense.

The ADCAP configuration further equips the radar to track small unmanned aerial systems and maritime targets, leveraging automation and advanced algorithms for persistent monitoring while limiting false detections.
