PT Pindad, a leading Indonesian defense enterprise, has joined forces with Rheinmetall of Germany to co-develop cutting-edge ammunition systems aimed at enhancing the country’s defense production capabilities.

This collaboration complements Indonesia’s broader push to deepen global defense partnerships. In early 2025, Jakarta concluded a major fighter jet deal with Dassault Aviation for the Rafale, while PT Pindad continued expanding its technology-transfer network with Turkey’s FNSS, South Korean, and Indian defense firms.

In the maritime sector, PT PAL Indonesia is advancing its naval modernization program through joint shipbuilding efforts with Dutch and Japanese partners.

Together, these initiatives represent the core of Indonesia’s Defense Industry Policy, which seeks to achieve industrial independence without sacrificing technological advancement and global cooperation.
