The Russian military claimed on Sunday to have captured two additional villages in southern Ukraine, as its forces gradually gain ground against outnumbered Ukrainian troops. The Russian Ministry of Defense, via Telegram, reported the seizure of Rivnopillia and Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. While the Zaporizhzhia front sees less intense combat than the east, Russian forces—better equipped and more numerous—are making advances in both areas. In the east, fighting revolves around the strategic hub of Pokrovsk, where Russian incursions in recent weeks have weakened Ukrainian defenses. Meanwhile, peace talks between Kyiv and Moscow remain stalled, and a planned Budapest summit between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin was canceled.
