Saab has signed new cooperation agreements with Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa and WB Group as part of efforts to strengthen industrial and technological collaboration with Poland’s defense industry.
Under an updated agreement with PGZ, Saab and the Polish state-owned defense group plan to cooperate on submarine maintenance, repair, and overhaul capabilities within Poland in support of the country’s Orka submarine program.
In a separate deal, Saab and WB Group will work together on autonomous naval technologies and unmanned aerial systems, including platforms such as Gladius and the Future Task Force concept.
Saab President and CEO Micael Johansson said the partnerships will help develop advanced technologies that contribute to security and stability in Europe and across the Baltic Sea region.
The expanded cooperation reflects Saab’s broader strategy to integrate with local partners and increase its presence in Central and Eastern Europe.
Saab’s History With PGZ and WB Group
Saab’s partnership with PGZ began in September 2025 when the companies signed a memorandum of understanding during an international defense exhibition in Poland.
That initial agreement focused on exploring cooperation in multi-domain defense solutions and assessing potential joint initiatives supporting Ukraine and wider European security.
At the same event, Saab also entered a strategic partnership with WB Group to collaborate on UAV systems, naval technologies, and border security solutions, aiming to accelerate innovation and shared defense capabilities between Poland and Sweden.
These earlier arrangements laid the foundation for the new agreements, which shift the cooperation from exploratory discussions to more defined industrial collaboration.
