The US State Department has authorized a potential $185 million foreign military sale of Class IX spare parts and associated equipment to Ukraine.

According to a pending Department of Defense notification to Congress, Kyiv has requested Class IX spare parts to support US-supplied army vehicles and weapon systems already in service. The package also includes related logistics and program support aimed at strengthening Ukraine’s sustainment capacity, improving operational readiness, and reducing repair turnaround times in active combat conditions.

The Defense Security Cooperation Agency (DSCA) stated that the proposed sale supports US foreign policy and national security objectives by enhancing the security of a partner nation contributing to political stability and economic progress in Europe. The agency added that implementation would not require additional US government or contractor personnel and would not alter the regional military balance.

US–Ukraine Defense Sales Context

In recent years, Washington has approved multiple major defense sales and support packages for Ukraine through the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) framework and related mechanisms.

In September 2025, the State Department cleared more than $300 million in potential sales to sustain Ukraine’s Patriot air defense systems and extend satellite communications for Starlink terminals. Earlier, in August 2025, it approved a potential $825 million sale of air-launched cruise missiles and related equipment, including thousands of GPS-guided Extended Range Attack Munitions and electronic warfare kits.

These approvals complement substantial transfers of ammunition, counter-drone systems, radars, and HIMARS rocket munitions provided to Kyiv in recent years to address persistent threats and maintain high operational tempo across multiple fronts.
