Hermeus has taken a significant step toward deploying what it claims to be the fastest unmanned aircraft currently in operation, securing $350 million in funding to accelerate development and expand flight testing.
With a total valuation now reaching $1 billion, the California-based company is advancing its program by building a fleet of three aircraft comparable in size to the F-16. This approach allows for parallel testing and simultaneous data collection across multiple platforms, reducing reliance on a single prototype.
The company’s current test platform, Quarterhorse Mk 2.1, has successfully completed its maiden flight, with the program now approaching supersonic performance milestones.
