Rune Technologies has been selected to participate in Anduril’s $99.6-million Next-Generation Command and Control (NGC2) prototype program for the US Army, which is currently undergoing evaluation with the 4th Infantry Division.

The initiative is focused on enhancing how commanders gather, distribute, and apply operational data in real time. Rune will support the effort through its TyrOS software platform, designed to enable tactical logistics planning by processing inputs from sensors and fielded units.

TyrOS is built to operate effectively in contested environments, maintaining sustainment planning even when communications are degraded or disrupted. It detects brief windows of connectivity, prioritizes mission-critical information, and transmits data across a mesh network using minimal bandwidth.

The platform also dynamically adjusts where data is processed and stored, leveraging lightweight edge computing and shifting to cloud infrastructure when network access permits.

Over the six-month prototype period, TyrOS will be evaluated and refined in collaboration with the 4th Infantry Division, supporting the broader rollout of NGC2 at the division level.

NGC2 represents the Army’s broader push to unify command-and-control and battlefield systems under a single interoperable framework. Built as a layered technology stack spanning transport, infrastructure, data, and applications, the architecture integrates previously siloed systems and incorporates artificial intelligence and machine learning to enhance decision-making. The effort is guided by a service-wide strategy aligning operational requirements, funding, acquisition, and contracting.
