French defence firm Naval Group and Greece-based Metlen have formalized an expanded partnership through a memorandum of understanding covering submarine and surface combatant programs. Signed in Volos, the agreement positions Metlen as a key strategic supplier within Naval Group’s global supply chain. It also reinforces ongoing collaboration on projects supporting both the French and Hellenic Armed Forces, where Metlen contributes critical components.
The partnership aims to extend beyond domestic requirements, with both companies targeting international markets by leveraging their combined expertise. Their cooperation traces back to 2022 during the Hellenic Navy’s FDI frigate program, which included a broad industrial participation initiative integrating over 70 Greek firms into Naval Group’s ecosystem. Metlen has since strengthened its defence presence through its subsidiary M Technologies, with plans to establish a six-facility industrial hub in Volos to support European defence manufacturing and advanced production capabilities.
