European skies may soon host a new hybrid drone as the European Defence Agency selects Survey Copter to study and develop a multi-role unmanned platform. The aircraft will be derived from parent company Airbus’ Capa-X unmanned aerial system and is designed to perform missions including surveillance, reconnaissance, electronic warfare, aerial payload delivery, and automated in-flight refueling. The effort, launched under the Multi-Mission Unmanned Aircraft System project, will run for 48 months with a budget of around €1.1 million ($1.2 million).
