The French Air and Space Force is expanding the MQ-9 Reaper’s mission profile by testing its use as an airborne counter-drone “hunter” platform. During a recent live-fire exercise at the Île du Levant range, the drone successfully engaged a target simulating a Banshee-type system using a HELLFIRE missile.
This capability enhancement is the result of operational development efforts led by crews from the 33rd Surveillance, Reconnaissance and Attack Wing (ESRA) within the CEAM Weapons School framework.
