The Indian Army is assessing the development of a new category of supersonic loitering munitions designed to address advanced air defense systems and evolving threats in highly contested operational environments.
The platform is powered by a ramjet propulsion system, which sustains high-speed flight by compressing incoming air through forward motion, thereby eliminating the need for traditional rotating engine components.
This capability significantly shortens the response window for enemy air defenses, enhancing the munition’s ability to penetrate defenses and successfully engage its intended targets.
