Lockheed Martin has officially appointed Fujitsu Limited as a supplier for a critical component of Japan’s Aegis System Equipped Vessel (ASEV) SPY-7 radar antenna.

At a recent signing ceremony, the companies confirmed the first purchase order for the SPY-7 Subarray Suite Power Supply Line Replaceable Unit (PS LRU), authorizing Fujitsu to commence mass production of the vital radar element. The move builds on a memorandum of understanding signed in May 2025 that named the Japanese firm as the PS LRU supplier.

Representatives from both sides emphasized that the partnership enhances Japan’s long-term defense readiness and reinforces supply chain resilience amid shifting security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific.

SPY-7 Radar
The SPY-7 is a solid-state radar system designed for advanced detection and tracking, capable of simultaneously countering ballistic missiles, air-breathing threats, and hypersonic weapons. It can also distinguish genuine threats from decoys.

Its modular architecture allows integration across multiple naval platforms, including Japan’s ASEVs, Canada’s River-class destroyers, and Spain’s F-110 frigates.
