Taiwan’s Army will conduct a live-fire exercise to assess operational performance and battlefield capabilities as it integrates newly acquired weapons, Taiwan Times reported.

Preparatory tasks include ammunition inspections, system maintenance, and coordination with local communities. Commander Lu Kun-hsiu emphasized that the drill will align commanders with key training priorities.

Weapons deliveries are set to accelerate in 2026. Scheduled arrivals this year include 108 M1A2T Abrams tanks, 14 Volcano mine systems, and 18 HIMARS launchers. Eleven HIMARS have already been fielded alongside ATACMS missiles. TOW-2B and Javelin missile deliveries concluded last year.

Beyond the exercise, Taiwan is expanding defense cooperation. Shield AI recently signed an agreement with NCSIST to support AI-driven unmanned systems. Additionally, Taipei is boosting its Patriot missile stockpile and has secured advanced IRST21 Legion ES sensors under a US foreign military sales deal with Lockheed Martin.
