Thales Group has introduced STORM 2, a lightweight, soldier-worn system designed to enhance troop protection against unmanned aerial threats. The portable device provides frontline personnel with localized counter-drone capabilities in combat environments.
Originally created to protect soldiers from improvised explosive devices, the system has been adapted into a compact counter-UAS tool capable of jamming frequencies ranging from 20 megahertz to 6 gigahertz.
Weighing less than 2 kilograms (4.4 pounds), STORM 2 is designed to reduce the physical burden on troops while functioning as a cyber and electromagnetic activities (CEMA) node, enabling electronic warfare capabilities at the individual soldier level.
