EDGE subsidiary Advanced Concepts is introducing a digital approach to munition safety with the ESAD-50, an electronic safety and arming device designed to replace traditional mechanical safeties with software-defined control.
Engineered for munitions with calibers of 50 mm and above, the compact ESAD-50 measures just 50 mm in diameter and 100 mm in height, enabling easy integration into a wide range of weapon systems.
The device incorporates an onboard inertial measurement unit that monitors acceleration, rotation, and overall flight dynamics, generating a detailed motion profile that must be validated before the munition is allowed to arm.
