CV90 infantry fighting vehicles operated by European NATO members are set to receive enhanced protection through the integration of Elbit Systems’ Iron Fist active protection system.

BAE Systems Hägglunds, the manufacturer of the CV90, has awarded Elbit a series of contracts worth a combined $150 million to supply and integrate the Iron Fist APS, significantly improving vehicle survivability.

Iron Fist is a hard-kill active protection system designed in a lightweight, compact, and modular configuration, allowing it to be installed across multiple vehicle platforms. The system provides full 360-degree coverage against a wide spectrum of threats, including anti-tank rockets, guided missiles, and unmanned aerial systems.

In September, Elbit demonstrated the system’s capabilities during a live-fire trial in Europe, where Iron Fist successfully intercepted more than a dozen 120mm kinetic-energy APFSDS tank rounds—an achievement the company described as rare.

Beyond the CV90 fleet, Iron Fist is also being integrated into the US Army’s Bradley infantry fighting vehicles.
