Israel’s RADA is rapidly enhancing its radar systems deployed in Ukraine, using frontline feedback from the Ukrainian Armed Forces to guide new software updates and design improvements.

Insights from active combat operations are shaping the company’s ongoing modernization of existing radar stations and driving the expansion of its product lineup to address emerging battlefield threats.

Ukraine primarily operates RADA’s Improved Multi-Mission Hemispheric Radar (ieMHR), a compact system engineered to detect aerial, missile, and unmanned threats. The radar’s modular design allows deployment on both portable platforms and self-propelled vehicles.

According to RADA, the ieMHR can identify nanodrones at ranges up to 10 kilometers (6 miles) and medium drones at 45 kilometers (28 miles). It can also track helicopters within 45 kilometers, low-flying fighters at 35 kilometers, and large transport aircraft up to 100 kilometers (62 miles).

Several ieMHR units are already operating in Ukraine, many donated by volunteer organizations. In May 2023, systems supplied through Lithuanian NGO Blue/Yellow were deployed to the front lines. At that time, Ukraine was slated to receive 16 radar systems, with approval from the Israeli Ministry of Defense.
