OCCAR has finalized a contract amendment to upgrade the Italian Navy’s first batch of U212A Todaro-class submarines under the Near Future Submarine (NFS) program. This modernization, guided by a mid-life update study, targets key systems and equipment needing enhancement, aligning them with technologies found in the latest NFS vessels. The initiative aims to close the capability gap between submarine generations while optimizing costs through shared logistics.
