Poland has chosen L3Harris Technologies’ AN/ALQ-254(V)1 Viper Shield electronic warfare system to support its F-16 Viper modernization program.
The upgrade will bring Poland’s fleet of 48 F-16 Block 52s to the advanced Block 70 standard, with Northrop Grumman’s AN/ALQ-257 IVEWS also having been offered. Already in service or on order for multiple nations, the Viper Shield can be retrofitted to earlier F-16 variants.
The suite delivers a virtual electronic shield, boosting survivability during complex missions by integrating a digital radar warning receiver with a radio frequency memory-based jammer in a fully internal setup.
It also links with the APG-83 AESA radar, enhancing both situational awareness and rapid threat response.
