BAE Systems Bofors has completed the delivery of Sweden’s upgraded Archer artillery fleet, marking the end of a nationwide initiative to strengthen long-range firepower.
The FMV (Swedish Defence Procurement Agency) confirmed that all 24 Archer 6×6 platforms have been upgraded to the Version C standard, incorporating a modernized command-and-control system and several vehicle enhancements.

The final handover restores two artillery battalions to full combat readiness, a milestone FMV described as central to the country’s ongoing defense modernization strategy.
This achievement is one of several modernization milestones Sweden has reached since becoming a NATO member, reflecting its drive to align capabilities with allied standards.

The government has accelerated procurement and upgrade programs across the air, land, and maritime domains, focusing on interoperability and rapid readiness.
Recent milestones include the delivery of enhanced JAS 39 Gripen fighters equipped with AESA radar and EW suites, and the navy’s sea trials of the A26 Blekinge-class submarines designed for stealth and endurance.
Additionally, Sweden has boosted production of its CV90 infantry fighting vehicles for domestic use and export to NATO allies including Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
