The US Army plans to begin prototyping a modular electronic warfare (EW) kit in 2026, designed to operate across a wide range of platforms.

Known as the Modular Mission Payload (MMP), the system is part of the Army’s Transformation Initiative, which aims to modernize and standardize equipment under a common plug-and-play framework.

A project manager from the Army’s Intelligence, EW, and Sensors office told Breaking Defense that the program is still in its early stages.

He explained that production quantities and demand remain undefined, since the upcoming prototyping phase will determine how many kits are needed and where they fit within Army formations.
