The US Army is trialing a cutting-edge system that enhances soldiers’ ability to detect and analyze signals throughout the electromagnetic spectrum, helping them better understand both their digital presence and surrounding threats.

Known as the Spectrum Situational Awareness System (S2AS), this technology detects interference, tracks command post emissions, and identifies potential ISR (intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance) threats.

It also enables troops to trace the origin of suspicious electromagnetic activity—whether it stems from allies, friendly units, or adversaries.
