The US Air Force has awarded Trust Automation a contract valued at up to $490 million to fast-track the development of unmanned and counter‑unmanned aerial system (UAS/C‑UAS) technologies.
The agreement supports rapid research, development, prototyping, testing, evaluation, production, and fielding of systems intended to counter the expanding drone threat to US Air Force installations and deployed forces. Work will be conducted at Trust Automation’s facility in San Luis Obispo, California, with the contract running through August 2030.
Trust Automation specializes in counter‑small UAS solutions focused on disrupting drone command-and-control links and Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) signals. Its flagship Small Unmanned Air Defense System delivers layered protection for fixed locations such as air base defense centers, while also offering rapidly deployable configurations for expeditionary environments.
The modular system supports detection, tracking, and defeat of Group 1 and Group 2 drones weighing up to 55 pounds, operating at speeds up to 250 knots and altitudes of up to 3,500 feet. The company also manufactures the GAT UAS Jammer, a compact, rail‑mounted device that enables individual operators to counter drones directly within GNSS frequency bands.
