The US State Department has cleared two potential Foreign Military Sales to India worth a combined $92.8 million, covering Javelin anti-tank missiles and Excalibur precision artillery rounds. The first package, valued at $45.7 million, includes one fly-to-buy Javelin FGM-148 missile, 100 rounds, 25 lightweight command launch units (CLUs), training systems, simulation rounds, and support equipment. The second sale, worth $47.1 million, includes up to 216 M982A1 Excalibur 155 mm precision-guided projectiles and associated hardware and support. According to the Defense Security Cooperation Agency, the approval aims to strengthen India’s defense capability and deepen US-India strategic ties. The shoulder-launched Javelin offers fire-and-forget engagement against armored threats up to 4 kilometers, while the Excalibur GPS/INS-guided round provides high-accuracy long-range artillery strikes with a claimed 2-meter CEP.
