US defense firm Anduril has completed the delivery of all Altius 600M loitering munitions to Taiwan under a previously approved foreign military sale. The US authorized the transfer of 291 units along with related equipment in June 2024, with shipments starting in August 2025 and concluding seven months later, according to reports citing Taiwan’s defense ministry.

Alongside this delivery, Washington continues to bolster Taiwan’s military capabilities with additional systems such as M1A2T Abrams tanks, HIMARS launchers, and Harpoon coastal defense platforms. These efforts form part of Taipei’s broader strategy to reinforce its defenses amid growing concerns over potential Chinese military action.

The Altius 600M is a 12-kilogram loitering munition featuring a modular payload of up to 3 kilograms, enabling roles ranging from strike missions to intelligence, surveillance, reconnaissance, and electronic warfare. It has an operational reach of around 440 kilometers and can remain airborne for up to four hours.

To counter rising threats, Taiwan plans to increase defense spending to approximately $40 billion over the next eight years. The country is also expanding drone capabilities, introducing dedicated army drone units, integrating UAV training, and advancing its “T-Dome” layered air defense system, which is expected to reach high readiness by 2027 and full capability by 2033.
