Babcock International has been awarded a contract to support and maintain the British Army’s portable field power generators that provide electricity for deployed military units.

The agreement, valued at up to 36 million pounds ($46 million), could run for as long as eight years. Under the contract, Babcock will conduct maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) activities for the generator fleet while managing the equipment’s lifecycle through advanced asset management systems to ensure operational availability and reliability.

Engineering and technical teams across three locations in the United Kingdom will carry out the work, which is expected to create around 20 new jobs.

Field Electrical Power Supplies

The generators, known as Field Electrical Power Supplies (FEPS), deliver electrical power for military systems during deployments and training exercises. They support equipment such as communications systems, lighting infrastructure, and other essential field operations tools in locations where fixed power networks are unavailable.

Supporting Deployed Forces

Modern military operations rely heavily on digital networks, sensors, and command-and-control systems, making mobile power generation critical in remote and austere environments.

The British Army deploys FEPS generators to sustain temporary bases, forward operating locations, and command posts.

Babcock International already supports the army under several long-term agreements covering vehicles and equipment, while also providing maintenance and asset management services for multiple platforms across the UK Armed Forces. The company is additionally active in shipbuilding and military training programs.
