Rheinmetall UK has been awarded a contract to integrate its Trailblazer Driver Vision and Local Situational Awareness System into the British Army’s M270 A2 Multiple Launch Rocket System.

Prototype systems are scheduled for delivery in early 2026, with full-rate production expected to begin later that year. The contract is valued in the mid single-digit millions of euros.

Trailblazer delivers day, thermal, and fused imagery to drivers and commanders, significantly improving mobility, obstacle avoidance, route planning, and threat detection in low-light, degraded, or harsh weather environments.

The system is currently in service with armed forces in seven countries, providing a common vehicle vision solution across a range of combat platforms.

Under the agreement, Rheinmetall UK will supply driver vision sensors, remote side and rear cameras, installation hardware, ruggedised cabling, control switches, and protective housings.

Rheinmetall UK has increasingly established itself as a leading supplier of advanced vehicle vision and situational awareness solutions to the British Army.

The M270 A2 upgrade represents the 17th military platform to be equipped with the Trailblazer system.

In addition to the MLRS programme, Trailblazer has been delivered for the Challenger 3 main battle tank, enhancing crew performance in low-visibility and adverse weather conditions.

The system is also installed on the Boxer Mechanised Infantry Vehicle and the Warrior infantry fighting vehicle, helping standardise vision capabilities across multiple British Army platforms.
